We are delighted to be working in partnership with The Children’s Society to promote the use of Mindfulness in Schools as a part of their “My Life 4 Schools” Initiative which offers free tailored resources to help teachers deliver SEAL and PSHE and Citizenship.

Pink and Fluffy or an Evidence Based Response to Challenging Times?

The use of mindfulness as a successful healthcare intervention continues to grow as scientific research uncovers further evidence of its beneficial effects on our health and well-being.  Focus now is moving towards the positive influence mindfulness meditation can have within the school setting including: improved relationships, better concentration, enhanced learning ability and greater resilience to stress and anxiety.

The following link to a Parliamentary Discussion on Mindfulness in Education provides a good overview of the rationale behind teaching chidren the life skill of mindfulness in schools.

An Introduction to Mindfulness in Schools

  

These events are ideal for headteachers, members of senior leadership teams, teachers and school mental health/well-being leads.  No previous expeience of meditation is required as the workshop is designed to provide an introduction to mindfulness and to explore the research and neuroscience which is supporting its application in a school setting. The workshops also include an overview of .b a mindfulness course designed specifically for schools.

We would encourage anyone wishing to develop their mindfulness skills further, personally or professional, to attend an 8 week Mindfulness Based Stress Reduction Course (a pre-requisite to .b training).  If this is something that would be of interest to you then please contact us by emailing relax@yorkmbsr.co.uk.
